About Tabakoshi
Nestled in nature's lap in a scenic valley and surrounded by tea gardens on the slopes of mountains, Tabakoshi is a virgin village in Darjeeling district and is part of Gopaldhara Tea Estate. It is located 5.2kms from Mirik Bazaar in Pokhriabong Rangbhang Valley at an altitude of 3,800ft.
If you are looking for a quiet time among nature to soak in the lovely scenic views of mountains, walk through tea garden trails, sit on a rock on a river bed and paddle your feet in the water of a flowing stream, enjoy the bird songs and gaze at the vast stretches of flowering plantations and fruit orchards, then Tabakoshi will be a perfect getaway for you for a couple of days.
The mountain river Rangbhang flows through the village in a scenic setting. During the monsoon, the color of the stream's muddy water turns copper like. In local Nepali language, 'Tamba' means copper and 'Koshi' means a river. So the name of the river is also locally known as Tambakoshi or Tabakoshi.
How To Reach
It takes 20-25 min from mirik to reach.Private taxis from Bagdogra or NJP will go up to Mirik Bazaar and from there you need to change to another one.

You can visit Tabakoshi any time of the year.However best time is between march to mid-june and october to november.In this time the weather remains pleasant

Mirik
Mirik is a picturesque tourist spot nestled in the serene hills of Darjeeling district in West Bengal, India. Mirik has become a popular tourist destination for its climate, natural beauty and easy accessibility.
The centre of all attraction is the Sumendu lake, surrounded by a garden on one side and pine trees on the other and linked together by an arching footbridge called Indreni Pull (Rainbow Bridge). A 3.5-km-long road encircles the lake and is used for walks with the view of Kanchenjunga on the far horizon. Boating on the quaint shikaras and pony riding are available.
Gopaldhara
Gopaldhara Tea Estate is a tea garden in the Mirik CD block in the Mirik subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal.Gopaldhara Tea Estate, “one of Darjeeling’s pride”, is one of the highest tea estates in Darjeeling producing Darjeeling tea.
This Tea Estate produces the finest Darjeeling tea in all categories such as Black, Green, White, Oolong, Flavored, Speciality Tea and Handcrafted tea. It has built a new factory. Vacant high elevation areas are being planted with fresh varieties.
Jorpokhri
Jore Pokhri Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in Darjeeling District, West Bengal. It is the habitat of some high-altitude animals like Himalayan Salamander.Jore Pokhari is a small village on a hilltop which is almost 20 kilometers away from Darjeeling town.
The main feature of Jore Pokhri is the twin lakes after which the place is been named. The boundary of one lake is surrounded with seating arrangements for visitors, and there is a huge model of snake in the middle of the lake.
There are several temples in the area as well as rare Himalayan Salamanders, swans and monkeys. Once the Salamanders were considered totally extinct, but examples were found in Jore Pokhri in 1964.
Simana
At a distance of 6 km from Pashupati Market, 20 km from Mirik and 24 km from Darjeeling, Simana is a viewpoint situated at Simana Basti on Darjeeling - Mirik Road in West Bengal. Situated on Indo - Nepal border, it is one of the popular viewpoints in Mirik and among the must visit Tourist Places in Mirik.
Situated at an altitude of 7500 feet, Simana Viewpoint is a 60 feet by 40 feet plateau which offers breathtaking views of the surrounding plains, snow-capped peaks of Mount Kanchenjunga and the tiny hamlets of Nepal. Simana means border in Hindi. This is the Indo-Nepal border area, the road itself belongs to India and the viewing area falls in Nepal. But visitors can freely cross over to get the mesmerizing views.
Orange Garden
A number of Orange gardens producing delicious and very tasty oranges are located in and around Tabakoshi.This place is famous for its high-quality oranges. These are grown in Mirik Busty, Murmah and Soureni Busty.
Almost every household here has a garden and in these gardens one would come across an orange orchard, which gives you a plaesant and mild feeling of nature. so come with your friends or family and sink into the beauty and engulf the serenity of nature.
River Camping
You Can also do riverside camping. Our homestay arrange for all camping requirments including tents, bedding, firewood, foods etc. If you are interested, you can also do fishing on the river . If you need that we can provide the fishing rods and also guide you to the right fishing spot.
Our homestay can also arrange a day picnic by the bank of the river where you can also take a bath at the river or just sit on a rock dipping your feet into the water and enjoy the scenes around.
The mountain stream Rangbhang flows through Tabakoshi. Our homestay can arrange a hike or a short trek through the river valley and along the river bank.
Village Tour / Trek
The villagers at Tabakoshi practice organic farming. Take a village tour and see the farming practices here. There are many orange orchards, cardamom fields and ginger farms. The residents of Tabakoshi are known to be very polite and friendly. Go around the village, chat with the villagers and understand their culture and way of life.
There is also a full day trek of moderate difficulty up to the place called Simana (at Indo-Nepal border)... there is a viewpoint at Simana.
Tabakoshi is also excellent for bird watching. You can see different kinds of birds here including pheasants, flycatchers, sunbirds, treepies, barbets, orioles and lot more.
